Sprocket Doodle you can be so insensitive at times. A big bloke like you should be bursting with joy, not unhappy thoughts. I will whisper some words of happiness into the breeze tonight before I go to bed and hope you will hear them.
Probably something like ...... I think you can guess old fella, Noight noight

Good deal. You'd be nuts to not run them mate. You are installing New Axles with a New hardened race for that seal. Best to run thr best seal on the new face. Double lipped. Winner.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Looking at upgrading the rear axle Assy. came across a set-up for the GQ that converts the rear to fully gloating with 300m axles, looks the goods, but having trouble finding out if CEM, Custom Engineering Manufacturing are still in operation, no email or phone return calls received, has anyone come across this mob, or know of a comparable upgrade?

There is absolutely no need for a rear axle upgrade. It's so rare for them to let go. Usually the diff centre will let go but such a rare thing for a patrol rear axle to let go. They are so big already. Your money would be better spent elsewhere. Prob a lot cheaper to source a coil H260 out of an early 3L GU. Has the bigger axles and is either semi or full floating if a remember right.

Thanks for your considered opinions, it's my money and if I think it's warranted and can afford it, what's the deal? I don't want the bigger pumpkin that comes with the 260 either. It's not about the cheapest option, it's about what meets the brief. Full floater in 233 footprint is what I want, and stronger to boot.
