Where have they been all my life bloody awesome. Basically a portable drill press that sticks to your (metal) work piece.
I ended up watching a heap of vids online and reckon I might re purpose a big old drill the old man has. This is one of the old school finger breakers so should be perfect. Use some electro magnetic for holders for the base and half way to a good setup.
On a side note YouTube is awesome. Been watching a lot of vids on random machines for home workshop. All self made and then used to make the next project. Eg big belt sander tube benders cross tables. Some great ideas. Once the new workshop is actually built I might dive into a few of those

316 is non magnetic, you would need a vacuum base.

Tools you have bought/want to buy feedback thread
Way out of my nuffy non-engineering league here but somehow believe that 1,2,3 &4 series SS can still be customised to retain atmospheric corrosion capabilities whilst retaining Carbon strength capabilities if needed?
EDIT: A decent site nuffy found: https://www.reliance-foundry.com/blo...tainless-steel

Sorry mate, was being a mickhead. Kind of knew that since I use 316 a lot but I am having trouble using a vacuum base on my ally checkerplate and perforated SS sheet….😂😂
