2008 Patrol Y61 ZD30 DDTi Piston damage #4 and rebuild
My Patrol has done about 115,000 km and pulling a 3 ton van up long gradual incline near Kalgoorlie in too higher gear, burnt a piston causing crankcase pressure lots of smoke and no power. Now know and am fitting EGT, Oil Can and Boost Gauge.
Anyway have lifted motor out and disassembled. Honed cylinders(no real damage), new standard pistons/rings (Teikin Alfin Gallery) through UMR Parts ; lapped valves etc and am assembling. I have purchased ThreeBond 1215 Liquid Gasket for where required as it is for differentials and transmissions. However on the instructions it states if sealing oil pan or sump, to use a different product. As it is a major job to removed the engine again to fix an oil leak on the sump and pan, Can anyone advise what liquid gasket would be best for that purpose. Your advice appreciated.. Tks .. Rick

I have used high temp silicone to seal sumps with much success
You have to clean the surfaces with thinners first though
