I sealed off the air inlet to the carby, and poured a bucket of water into the snorkel to check it out. I was surprised how may leaks showed up.
The main concern is the pre-heat air flap, which produced a steady stream of water. The next worse leaks were at the dust spinner and the factory flange to the mud guard.
I still haven't worked out a way to seal the pre-heat and also keep the vehicle road worthy, and it needs the heat to run properly in winter. I did try a brass reducer and removable plug, but it restricted the air flow too much.
I am toying with the idea of running a flexible steel steel pipe in parallel from the spinner outlet across the headers and up to the pre-heat .
Ripped off the old tint, ready for new. Shoulda done it years ago. Sprayed all the window switches, and changed the oil. Gotta love having 5 days off between Changing jobs.

Yes Michael, I bought a JEE.....60.
Scrubbed the above idea and just made a rubber bung with a small bolt through the centre with a wing nut to squash it and lock it in place. Just gotta remember to fit it and block the pre-heat vacuum line before heading out bush and to remove it when getting home. Too easy!

Oi Kat woman, where you been? Get back on here! Glad you're looking after the trol but haven't heard from you since Sir Roofy's.
@katwoman wow and hi great to hear from you.

Hey john, it’s been a while. I was thinking real dark for barn doors and back windows, lighter for the doors, if it’s too dark it’s hard to see in the bush, but I love the look of dark tint
My other cars tints are not legal tho.

Parked her in the shed as she was trembling at the thought of this recovery load we came across :-)
Another 4.2L, albeit Perkins with both diffs locked @ 0.5kmph crawling did the trick
Old mate unfortunately wasn’t helping the “Asian’s Can Drive” cause :-)

Mad coincidence. I came across the same size and type of truck in the same predicament on the way to my parents yesterday. But it was full of logs, had slid right off the road and was being dragged out with a skidder. Lucky, because I don't think danis civic would have been much help
