Bought this DC-DC charge controller, 50amp unit, good size for the 400a/h bank in the back. It looks like it has the goods for the job, and I won't be using the MPPT side of it, so less heat stress into it as well. Looked at the Redarc, but physically too large in size and too much money for the duty it would see from me. Time will tell if this setup suits my application

I really wanted to support redarc when I got my dc-dc charger but just not even in the same league price wise. I couldn't justify spending that much money on something that get sporadic use at best. It was a foreign unit or nothing for me :/

That one looks like it should do what it needs too.

I think its looks Ok as well. Its about value V performance and time will tell if I have made the correct choice. The Victron MPPT unit that Cuppa recommended is clearly more efficient than the CTEK unit I had - you can see it in the voltage and current rates. I don't expect to be operating this unit at 50amps beyond a few minutes to be honest, so it does not justify the Redarc. the Redarc is premium stock, but like you, to buy at the top end by default is simply not logical.

Awesome Mark, you’ll love it mate, well done!
Do consider bracing the HM together too even with a standard width drum, they are a beast of a motor them Iskra Mahle’s and pull like a freight train with a shipload of amps.
Matty may know a bloke available and or Phil at The 4WD Shed that Darren kindly put me in touch with did a ripper job, powder coated black too seems to take your eye off front end grill modifications etc...
