1 lux at 1,000 metres... dang
https://www.vicoffroad.com.au/pair-9...l-offroad.html
Interesting variation for 9 inch LED driving lights.
1 lux at almost 1100 metres is better than most HIDs
then there's these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pair-9-i...ery!6169!AU!-1
I can't even see that far so would want to sacrifice a bit of range for more spread
.... aaaaand for the totally insane laser style https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pair-9-i...UAAOSw7m9bDkWU

Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Could paint a Bat Signal on 'em and shine 'em at low clouds as well...

Serious question. How far is far enough? Do you really need to see 1km ahead at night? Why isn't 500m enough? I would thiink the level of illumination for a 1km sight line would render your vision useless when dropping to low beam for oncoming traffic.
What would be the best compromise for sight distance vs pupil dilation?

Lastly, 1 lux is damn near pitch black anyway, hardly enough to be able to see anything at walking speed, let alone 100klm/hr.

FWIW-IME, Super bright lights around our neck of the woods seem to hypnotically attract Big Bouncing Bunnies, much like Moths to a naked dangerous flame!
