Awesome Winnie looks smick mate, heck of a lot easier to brace out of the car mine was a nightmare and some of the welds look like bird cr@p but whatever. . . Reckon you should seriously think about powder coating them instead of paint, never get the chance again stripped and out of car. Mine looked nice and all painted but after a bit of driving through vegetation and what not look like poo again pretty quick. . .

Hmm good idea... Any idea rough cost for powder coating? I've never had it done.
Already spent a fair bit on it and still need to buy drag link and tie rod.

Couple of hundred should cover it maybe. Used a place in Moe before blast away sandblasting and he takes it to his mates for power coating, it's near the roundabout on the way out to Rawson. Will cost a bit extra but heaps worth it i reckon will look smick for years. . .

I had my SS snorkel done in Shepp and it cost $50. Bullbars were $150, reckon its probably a lot quicker than a bullbar, maybe the $100-125 at a guess. That included the light grit blast as well.

Did you tack the housing to the bench or anything? Maybe check it for straightness before installing the components as the weld can pull it a fair bit.

No we didn't. My mate is a boily and was confident he would not bend it.
How would you check it?

How'd he do the top brace, was it stiched bit by bit alternating sides or letting cool in between. ?

Maybe some v blocks and measure at different points to see. I machined a length of 4140 rod up that passed through the front centre and into the other side. It was bent to start with and the shaft would not go through. A smll amount of bend is probably ok but if its to much you will destroy axle seals.

I used POR15 on my rear diff and Aux tank. Bloody strong stuff.

Got the rear diff out today, putting the new one in tomorrow and making a start on the front.
