Soooooooo.
Head come off today.
Tests confirmed it was gas in coolent.
Gasket looks ok.
So heads off to be pressure tested and crack tested.
Exhaust manifold warped and egr pipe had a hairline crack in it too...
On an up side the pistons and bores look great, glow plugs are great and no sign of bad injection spray....
But still pissed.
103*** on it..
Think itll be up for sale once fixed....
With my miniscule amount of knowledge on this, I've been trying to work this out @bigguwesty, when you say gas in coolant, do you mean exhaust gas? How'd that get in there?

And would blocking the EGR around the rear of the motor (or wherever it is) have helped to save Kallen from the problem he has now?
Should we all look at blocking the EGR at that location as well???

So turns out it was the gasket between cylinder 4 and rear coolent galley.
Head come back in mint condition no cracks and pressure tested perfect..
However this has now fkd me as warranty wont cover jobs where gaskets are at fault.
So on my own now..
House renos just took a hit..
Hard.
Luckily my brother use to work for them and they are doing a good price for me.
I'll be throwing incolnol studs in with the new manifold.
Will also be blanking egr at exhaust manifold..
Fkn thing...
Mudnutette is renting an old house. She called me to come and fix the leak under her vanity basin. This thing has been leaking so long that there are mushrooms growing out of the floor. I found that the drain is leaking behind an asbestos backed panel. Plumbers were called, and two turned up. They then called another two. After a while they left without fixing the problem. Strangely enough the shrooms are gone.

All too late mate.
They submitted it all before telling me but would have needed rest results aswell

I initially blocked the EGR at R/H side as it was easier to get at , then after a while it developed a ‘whistle ‘ I couldn’t find - turned out to be manifold gasket - manifold warped , got it machined & new gasket , I blocked the EGR pipe on the exhaust side aswell as I couldn’t see any sense in letting it ‘pressurise’ that pipe around the back of the engine - it seemed to be asking for trouble .
