TD42 injectors
Evening all, I am looking at putting new injections in. Last lot went in 200k ago 😬 and I put a turbo on 100k ago. My question is are NA and Turbo injectors the same and if I up grade to a 11mm touring pump will the injectors be different again. She’s a 97 GQ was NA now with a turbo to help tow the camper to all corners of this great land👍

From what I know, which aint much, the injectors are the same. You can get high flow injectors, which what was put in my TD, but apparently this is not needed. I am sure the more knowledge members will set you straight...

Standard injectors at standard crack pressure is all you need whether it's stock, mild or wild. A 'touring' pump is just a sales pitch

Thanks Ben-e-boy. Can you recommend a brand of injector? Also with regards to pump, just looking at overhauling it and people go on about the 11/12mm/touring pumps. Looking for reliability. Currently running 10psi max (according to boost gauge towing up toowoomba range @ 2600rpm in second) not in a hurry and temp gauge and egt are normal . Abit of preventative maintenance.

Just re-kit the original injectors.
If it is staying a mild setup only, then a freshened up 11mm will be sufficient

My diesel mechanic said 100 000kms on a Td42t and 140 000kms on CRD.
He charges 700 bucks. Takes a whole day to change everything on it.
Then again I seen 360 bucks on ebay exchanged with sets done already

Got 200k on mine. Am questioning if they have passed the use by date as she feels sluggish and getting black soot on the panel above tailpipe and that’s new (since 350kmark) but I am no expert . Cost wise yet to enquire

Yeah pretty much. They only need to be checked but for the cost of that vs exchange reco items then just swap them out. $3-400 every 100k is nothing.

Just to add to this. Make sure whoever does the job is using genuine zexel nozzles for the rebuild of them. A few people doing nice things with 11mm pumps these days so easy enough if you want a little more. However with your setup a nice fresh 11mm will be nice and just get the injectors set to td42t specs.
