Monkeybucket III The TD42 project
Gday all,
Just joined up a week ago after buying a new project family wagon...This time I decided to go Nissan as I have always like the old Diesel patrols.
With a little luck Nissans 1990 TD42 GQ Patrol has landed in my driveway for a steal so its off to the research department for me and into the shop for the old girl. It only has 250,000kms on the clock and is in immaculate condition. Everything works except for the Odometer which only just stopped and seems to be a fairly basic fix. Cant find any rust except for on spot that has gone through on the rear top corner. Its only a pin hole that a bit of clever welding will fix.
The chassis is clean and no sign of decay on the front curves under the foot wells...suspension is all original except for the shocks so I will be giving her a rebuild and lift for its 27th Birthday. Found the Cable disconnect for the rear sway bar...First time I have encountered one of these...its all in working order.
I am installing Central locking and a remote immobiliser to give it a bit more appeal as the door locking barrels are a bit worn out so that is now on the cards.
And now for the first pics of the new rig...

Cheers Mate...its gonna take me forever to read the particulars so I think I will just stick to the manual pictures and get the tuning crap done by the pros.

Well the old Nissan genuine 15x7 rims are gone to a new home with about 30% tread still on the tyres. They have been replaced with a set of GU 17x8 Alloys wrapped in a set of highly aggressive 32inch highway tyres...lol
I have fitted a full length roof rack to mount the highlift jack and shovel to get me outa hardcore boggy trouble arising from pulling over to answer calls due to the outdated frills free sound system....
MBIII received a Central locking and immobilizer upgrade the other day which is a bit of a gimik for me as its the first time I have ever had it...
The rig now sits on a Tough dog 3 inch 300plus adjustable shock and suspension upgrade that required the replacement of a bent drag link and trailing arm. Must have traversed some high kerbing somewhere along the way...
Will post up an updated pic after a weekend on the sand. Enjoy the long weekend.

Geez Clunk cant a man get some couch time...back to work just to get a break...lol
So we took of to Sandy cape just north of Jurien Bay...The rig did it all with ease...no right foot required for any of it.
In saying that on the highway...MB III doesn't like hills in its current state...head winds on the road home kept us under 90km/h on the 4th cog...Temps stayed fairly normal except when we hit the big long climbs. would creep up to 2/3rds but pretty much just sat around 1/3rd the rest of the drive on the stock temp gauge.
Next stop Tires and a repair the odi.
Up top at the memorial...
