We decided that we needed to take a look at these rocks off of the Googs Tk. We had a Googs Tk trip coming up so I suggested a little detour. They agreed and it was on. Day one meeting at Krispy Kreme at 6am for a 6:30 departure. Long drive from Adelaide to Ceduna to stay at the Airport Caravan Park. Accommodation being basic and adequate for a one night and off to Googs the next day.
After about 40ks in along the track we came to a the unexpectedly pleasant camp sites along side the Googs lake. Didn't stay but put in the file for another time. IMG_20170729_123923.jpg
Not very far up the track from the camp site was the turn off to the rocks on the left heading west. It was just over this dune which Mark needed two attempts at. It was a very soft one. IMG_20170729_134523.jpg
The first 10-15ks where corrugated and a bit uncomfortable but we pushed on. At one point the track had been closed for revegetation and had been deverted off to the west.
Track very tight most of the way and winding in and out around trees. Do not attempt this track if you are worried about scratches. You'll get plenty. IMG_20170729_164338.jpg
It wasn't long before we realised we had greatly under estimated the time needed to drive this track. Slow going ment we had to pull up and make camp after a full days driving just 18ks short. IMG_20170730_080825.jpg
Pushed on around the corner to what all our maps said where the Jellabinna rocks but we where a little disappointed. We backed tracked the two ks to what we thought were the better spectacle for lunch and a look around. IMG_5830.JPG
Getting late again so set up camp for the night. No time left for the rest of the Googs Tk so when we get back onto it we head south back to Ceduna and home.
Big big day the next day to get back to Adelaide from the start of the Googs Tk. IMG_20170730_182721.jpg
Great trip glad we did it. Allow yourself a good full day from Ceduna into the rocks and other full day out. We'll be back another time to do the rest of Googs.
