Also given its price I'm concerned that the customs might be too interested in it being a knife and decide to confiscate it. What is the usual process has anyone had their knife confiscated/ not being allowed? Australia being a nanny state now such implements might be deemed too dangerous....LOL.
Regards

Not really surprising when it is clearly promoted as a weapon rather than a tool. It might be a very good knife but advertising it like that is irresponsible imho.

With pocket knives, the only items prohibited are press button flick or spring assisted knives.
All knives with thumb studs or like the 1 in the clip now known as "flipper" knives are fully permitted as customs legislation change towards the end of last year.
I've got a Cold Steel Black Sable flipper I took a gamble on as I wasn't 100% convinced of its functionality but it quickly became 1 of my favourite EDC blades and also considering adding more variations to my collection.
I've had a couple confiscated in the past due to their lack of understanding the laws they're required to uphold, an example was a paracord wrapped survival knife I ordered got snaffled because they deemed it to be a "throwing knife".
When I questioned them they replied that they applied their "testing policies" and was deemed to be a thrower despite the manufacturer's supporting document stating a survival knife only. They didn't like being asked if they tested the knife by throwing it, we don't do things like that (apparently) but they couldn't deny they had according to their policies.

I appreciate that they are legal, but question whether they need to be. If not used as a weapon is there really any advantage to being able to ‘flip’ a blade open quickly as shown in the video?
I’m not against knives, I’ve carried a Schrade Uncle Henry for years & used it for everything from cutting hay band to skinning rabbits. I just don’t see the purpose of being able to ‘flip’ open a blade almost instantly unless it is to be used as a weapon, & I don’t believe having weapons in our community is wise. I feel the same about guns. I’ve owned shotguns & rifles which have been necessary ’tools’, & I still like to pop off the odd rabbit, but would not agree to the likes of assault rifles being in our community. I also accept that wherever a ‘legal’ ‘limit’ is set will be an area of contention. In the case of this type of knife whilst it is clearly possible to justify owning one in current legal terms, I still question whether it can be reasonably classified as a tool & not a weapon without resorting to argument about responsibility of the individual?
Perhaps it’s just the ‘gunslinger’ type advertising I object to?

I think that all knives in Australia can't legally be carried concealed in your pocket?Inside a nice leather buttoned belt pouch for all to see would disable its functionality that's scarily advertised I reckon too.

I dont think you can carry a fold up knife on your belt these days.
You would need to justify why you have it, like a guy walking at 10pm at night
with a baseball bat in hand. Anyway pic is of a Leatherman I had confiscated twice
by the grubs, personally I think they saw it as a chance to score a handy sized Leatherman.
They told me the blade was too loose and could be opened with a flick action.
I was given a refund buy the seller and a third was sent with no probs, I have brought
and fixed thumb screws to a few of my folders, you can buy quick action sheaths for folders
like a 110 Buck
Late edit double edged fixed blade knives[dagger] are a no no in Vic and Qld

Only certain states eg Tassie have made illegal to carry a pocket knife or multi-tool unless in the performance of work duties and they're being crucified for that decision as well by other states which still permit it.
General carry in a pocket is frowned upon as it can be deemed as "concealable" but generally ok in a belt sheath.
Cowboy marketing which is common place overseas like in the video clip, does provide further fuel to the fire over knives in general and should really be taken into account prior to marketing practices being implemented.
Time, place and circumstances as Cuppa pointed out should also be considered by carriers and LEO's, we used to apply that principle dealing with carriers &a offenders in general as to what their lawful and reasonable excuse was as to why they were carrying it.
Knives for Self defence is still an offence in Australia and at this stage there's no news on whether it will be changed at this stage.
LEO's, Military and EMS personnel I fully agree with being able to utilise quick deployment knives due to their job descriptions and also other areas like rope rescue / abseiling etc, I used to carry them when I was instructing abseiling classes for rescue purposes when people's hair, clothing etc got caught and needed to be freed quickly.

Just to add to what Jason has said I think all prison officers carry a quick release rope cutter
for when prisoners try to hang them selves, That a specialist field though and not a knife pre say
I've got templates for a similar styled sheath however I'm not that keen on having a Chicago screw or rivet being across the blade edge

Yeah I was wondering about that I thought it might be nylon.
Takes so long to get the edge perfect would hate to ruin it
first time out, Poor design IMHO
