so, as i don't read Japanese - hand book !!
what does picture 1 do i.e. switch next to auto shifter - my guess shift patterns
picture 2 what does the red button do? - passenger seat ejector!!
finally with this type of locking hub
is it a matter of selecting 4wd and when finished 2 wheel drive and reverse
First pic is for auto transmission.
Power for longer gear changes.
And hold (can't remember why you use that one. ).
2nd pic is to unlock the gear shifter when car isn't running.
To put it in neutral or of the likes.
3rd pick is auto locking hubs which lock when transfer case changed into 4wd

Hi Tim, nice truck mate!
Regarding the 'HOLD' function. I used to have this same control button on my Pajero auto.
When cruising, normally in an auto, any slight inclines and descents would stimulate a change in gear. This control will override that reaction from the gearbox and maintain the same gear for longer without changing, so making for a smoother and more efficient driving style. Although if the auto box senses a strain in that higher gear, it will override your selection.
As with the 'POWER' selection Mego mentioned it's all about a balance of revs and torque loading that provides these two functions. I used to use both all the time.
All the best!

Hold function also works well in low range 4WD for the same reasons. Longer torque range on that gear. The alternative is to use your auto gears like a clutchless manual, which is what I tend to do in 4WD.

Nice looking unit mate. Agree with all the others as to the functions. The auto hubs will go in when you select 4wd. To deselect you may have to reverse a metre or so in a straight line after taking it out of 4wd. watch the light on the dash.
