    Thermostat Housing Assembly

    Hi All,
    Currently replacing the thermostat on my GQ TB42 petrol engine.

    The engine has a spacer (best way to describe it) between the thermostat housing and block. The spacer has an inlet/outlet valve on it, allowing water to flow from/to the bottom radiator hose. Therefore to replace the thermostat i need to use 2 x Gaskets and now worried about the pressure that needs to be applied to hold the thermostat housing down. Will this always leak as i do not believe in using Gasket Goo.

    The thermostat fits inside the housing with out the spacer so i was wondering what is with the spacer design? Is it common on the TB42 Petrol Engine.

    When using any type of "gasket Goo" just a fine smear will probably do the trick.
    I wasnt a fan when rebuilding motor bike motors as if used incorrectly you could
    block an oil gallery, but your on the cooling side of things so I dont see a problem
    04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
