Regarding dawes/needle and port blocking . . .
Ok, I have looked around, but still have a question or 2.
I'm wanting to know about the blocking
I see in this diagram, the Blocking is from the Air Resonator Filter to 'C' port which is the left most port ?? Yes ? Is the Air Resonator Filter directly on top of the Vacuum solenoid ?? as see in the Photo below ?? #1 to #3 ??
Standard Dawes.jpg
2nd question, is what is the Vacuum Pump ?? Where do I find that ?? and the Damper, is that the little filter type thing, on pipe 2 below ??
dawes_3.jpg
With all that in mind, do I swap the #2 to the outlet too its right ??
There is so much info around, it gets confusing and not knowing the parts doesn't help either . . Any more info is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Ok see, I'm confusing myself.
Forget the post above, as I see the drawn image doesn't have the needle valve. See the confusion
Anyway, I see I need to completely block the Vacuum Filter
AirFilterResonator.jpg
I know the pipe with the Damper in it, is connected, where does the far right pipe # 3 in the above post go then ??
Am I confusing myself more ??
Cheers

I suppose I should be asking, where the Vacuum Pump is . . .

If your installing the dawes and needle valve, all ports on the solenoid need to be blocked off. The vac pump is located on the rhs of the motor and you will see the hose from the pump, under the front section of the ic. Just put the dampener in the hose from the vac pump, which goes the the small T in the dawes kit, then from the T it goes to one end of the needle valve. The left over port on the T goes to one of the small ports on the dawes, the other port on the dawes goes to the turbo. The left over port on the needle valve goes to the resonator box port, next to the boost solendoid, which you wont be using...

Thanks all Finally got it sorted. I followed your diagram Mudski just not knowing part names and where things are makes it a little hard.
Now I have it set up with new Intercooler it maxes out at about 16psi, and sits in 13.5/14psi at 110klm/hr @23/2400rpm
This is where fine tuning will come into play more. Will study your 2nd page in the pdf Mudski where you talk about adjusting the needle and Dawes together
Tapping it out . . .

Good to see its coming along.
I now have issues with a customers Patrol hitting limp mode. Even after the dawes and needle valve fitted. I just cant figure this one out. Ive lowered the boost as far as 12psi and limp mode still comes on. Two ew mafs too.
I feel for this guy too. It's his 17yo kids car he's spent his hard earned on and he's devastated. I spent two hours today trying to nut it out.
Limp mode will come on and the engine light also, then sometimes just limp mode, then just the engine light. Wish i still had my ecu talk. This may tell a different story.
Im going back tomorrow with my old TPS just incase its this. Maybe another maf too.
