Yes higher boost equals lower EGTs, more fuel equals higher EGTs.

Raise your boost levels until you hit limp mode, then back it off a tad to just under limp mode. You should get atleast 16psi, if not around 18...

So if I go fucking around with the dawes and needle valve am I going to run the risk of blowing up my motor? Or is this something I can do by myself? I'm so paranoid to change anything as I don't want to go blowing up the bloody thing again

The only way you could blow your motor up with the Dawes and needle valves is if you were to set the boost way too low and just drive it. Your EGT's will go through the roof, cylinder temps will be massive and you will melt pistons again. But if you were to drive with such low boost the car would under perform so badly....

ok so i discovered a problem over the weekend. i was out 4wding and at the beginning i went to take out my tow hitch. turns out the bloody thing is rusted in their solid!!! does anyone have any clever ideas about how to get it free so it can be replaced as at the moment i can only see it being a hazard...

Yeah cool, where did you go? First time 4WDing since the rebuild?
I would just keep soaking it in WD-40 and try use a hammer to knock it out, maybe use a bit of heat

@ Rusty hopefully if only a steel rim you can belt it back into position.
As for the tow hitch beat it on all sides and soak in WD40, you
may be even able to put a piece of pipe or similar in from the back and belt it out that way.
As for your dawes etc I take it you have gauges fitted already, if so hard to go wrong,
1/2 to 1/4 turn at a time
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
