That's not good to hear mate. Hope everything turns out good for you. We try to buy aussie made where we can afford it when it comes particularly to food.

why would you eat berries ever again knowing how they are processed, yukky poo poo water.
Mick Catter had the right idea on labeling, saying along the lines of,
"these berries were processed using a method which would not pass Australian STD.
eating them may cause ill health"

yes its a shame but lets be clear here, its companies like bunnings, masters, and tigers that get all this cheap chinese shit into oz that are forcing aussie companies to go offshore with production and its driven by consumers, yes we are our own worst enemies!! i have seen some good wood heater manufactures get their product out of china now due to cheaper shit from china taking over 50% of the market.. thankfully coonara, jarrahdale and nectre still have aussie made heaters and will keep making them here.
This is a great thread btw keep up the good work.

Yep, exactly right Stropp. We need to vote with our wallets. I quite often tell people that whine about the lack if jobs in Tasmania that if everyone in tassie bought only tassie stuff then we'd all be gainfully employed and the state would be booming. Same goes for Australia as a whole.

Our local milk bar closed down late last year after over 100 years operating. Unfortunately too many people preferred to buy their stuff cheaper at the supermarket half an hour away.

We are our worst enemy mate. If we could change the mentalety of some people or just educate them a bit more we could sustain local business!!!!

It's not just imports that can be of concern. The deaths allegedly from "Jindi cheese" springs to mind.
I fail to see how labelling will change anything. Consumers want items that are convenient, cheap and I doubt most people would even take the time to read the labels.
Maybe if the mad hatter and his cronies put more effort into legislation regarding food standards and the enforcement of this legislation, instead of playing it up for the media.
We might just have a safer food supply, of course this would also increase the cost to our food supply.
