If it helps anyone i just pulled my rb30s carb completely to bits, gave all the jets and hoses a good spray with carby clean and a blow out with the air compressor. I concluded the needle and seat in these carbies are just about indestructable the needle is more ball bearing design instead of a pointed tip which increases its durability. I thought my performance issues was carby related and considered replacing needle and seat until I noticed the durable design and left them be.
The carby clean and reset floats stoped the pop/crackle through exhaust when going down gears. Apart from this and smoother acceleration no other changes notice in performamce.
