I'd love a DTS kit but way too much $$$'s. Yes I know they are good quality but don't do very many k's a year and just need a bit more low down torque..... Looking to DIY for under a grand...

I did mine for about a grand mate so if you are heading down this path then unfortunately patience is the key to find the parts you need or search search search to find someone upgrading their TD42 turbo and get all the goodies in one go.
Turbo, exhaust manifold, air filter housing, hoses, inlet and cross over pipes etc.
That was the plan AB. Am in no hurry. Missed out on an almost complete setup on Perth Gumtree the other day. Was like $350 or something (no hoses or air filter housing though). Any advise on how to tell if a turbo is worn or stuffed (if its off the engine)?
I did my setup for 1k as well then installed a $700 3" full straight exhuast system to complement it. I used an ebay manifold for $400 (now $150), t3/t4 hybrid turbo $300, aliminium cross over pipe $30, rubber fittings $70, then the rest on gauges, pillar pod, oil drain and feed. I also took my oil feed from teeing off the oil pressure sender as my bung was frozen in the block. Running 15 psi and loving it also the ebay turbo has no signs of wear after 6months of hard use.
TD42 turbo GQ - ironman snorkel - 4 inch flexy coils - 6" shocks - 3" straight exhaust - pyro and boost gauges in A pillar- uhf - winch - sunraisers - Bluetooth - spotties - front lokka

Check out AB's post on here #4. Pretty much explains everything. I am doing my sump this weekend for the turbo drain.
I have been slowly getting parts for my turbo install - just waiting on new exhaust, intercooler and gauges so i can fit everything in one weekend.
I have used all stock Nissan parts.
Turbo with 3" dump $200
Exhaust manifold $350
Nissan TD airbox $170
Intercooler with all piping and scoop $350
3" exhaust $700
Turbo oil feed $30
Got everything from gumtree or eBay - intercooler from a forum.
hey mate how much better does it go with the turbo?
considering buying the same kit off ebay, other thing is did your clutch handle the extra power/torque? Mine feels like heavy duty but unsure and bit worried it wont be up to task
