Is the key in or out of the ignition?

Have you tried your second key?

I would try lubing the barrel first.

This is how you remove the steering lock.

First remove the shrouds from around the steering column.

If you have a look at the back of the ignition barrel you will see that it clamps over the steering shaft.

On the top half of this you will see the remains of the heads of the security shear off bolts.

You will need to undo these bolts. I use to use a centre punch and hammer to do this.

With the centre punch start off by hitting it straight down on the head of the shear off bolt to make a hole on the outside edge. Then angle the punch down and tap the bolt in an anticlockwise direction.

The bolt should start to unscrew. I have also used an old flat blade screw driver to do this. Once you have removed the bolts the ignition barrel and lock will come off.

Then from memory it is two little grub screws that holds the electrical part of the switch onto the barrel, undo these screws and separate, then you can use a small flat blade screw drive to start the vehicle.

You can drill the spring and ball out then it will have no more locking mechanism
