Victorian Police Crack down on illegal Window Tint
This may concern for 1 or 2 of us.
Crackdown on tints
June 30, 2010
TINTED windows may be considered cool to some, crucial security for others but heavy tinting is a road hazard and many people drive with illegal levels of visibility, police say.
Yesterday, members of the Melbourne Traffic Management Unit conducted Operation Clear View, targeting drivers with illegal window tinting.
The road block on Lygon Street tested 80 cars, with 22 defect notices issued because of illegal tinting.
Mr Robinson said the drivers have seven days to rectify the problem.
Acting Senior Sergeant Phil Robinson said windows with less than 35 per cent visible light transmission were not only illegal, but also dangerous.

absolutely 100% agree with you there. I was listening to talk back radio yesterday morning & this ex cop gets on to bring up what I though was an interesting point. How many accidents on our roads are the direct course or had been contributed to by tinted windows & in he's 20 or 30 years on the force he could not account for 1, Yet we now need a special task force (Operation Clear View) to combat this.
I tell ya its got me buggered.
Cheers

What a crock!!!
Just like speed cameras. The commisioner even agreed to someone who leaked it out to the public that speed cameras are not for saving lives It's for revenue.

SUCH IS LIFE
I wonder how they test for this, would have to be something like a light gun and a light meter on the other side...hmm.
I got mine tinted by a pro and got legal and they still look fairly dark so wouldn't want to go any darker I reckon

Yeah I got tint on mine to but don't know if its legal or not cos it was on there when I got the Mav so who knows.
I hope there all good cos thats one of the things I liked about it when I first took a look at it & I've tinted every car I've had so it was a nice change not to have to tint this one.
Cheers
