Hey Guys,
Sorry to drag up an old thread, however I'm a first time visitor.
I have a series III gu and I'm also looking at some extra reverse lights. Now I have never touched anything electrical in any car so please excuse my potential dumbness.
In the above posts it refers to a relay, would one be needed if using LED lights?
The reversing light globes are probably 18watt each
If you replace them with LED bulbs then you can fit LED reversing lights to a total of 36watts with no worries and won't require a relay, just splice off the positive to the existing bulbs.
I've always fitted relays and used cheap spot lights similar to the above, but will try some LED's soon , time will tell if the LED's last

Great Job!
I second the idea of LED lights. I've got me some LED flood lights that only draw 0.5 Amps which means there are no dramas wiring it straight to the reverse light circuit. Heaps easier than having to set up a relay.
