'98 Patrol GUII, ST,4500 - using a tow ball on the front of vehicle for easy manouver
Has anyone had the experience of fitting a towball on the front of their Patrol for easy manouvering a caravan into difficult places. (not used for driving on the road). I have fitted one and is great for this purpose. But I ponder at the effect this has on the airbag sensors. What percussion is needed to set them off.

yep, when i brought my patrol it had a tow ball on the front. Love it.realy easy to manover a trailer into tight positions. you may need to get an extention toung for it, when i put a trailer on the front, on some angles the trailer ball socket hits the under neath on my bull bar.
as for air bags, if the tow ball sits back from your bull bar than it shouldnt hiner it to much. maybe go to a dealer and ask.

A lot of people do this, check out grey nomads , not sure about affecting air bags might depend on what it is mounted to.

Thanks for the replies, I find the front ball invaluable and have asked the service departments at 2 Nissan dealers who are quite emphatic it should not be done - but can't give a logical reason why.
So, until a problem arises I guess just carry on.
