Well..
Have had some issues with my poorol. Have replaced fuel pump with a brand new “upgraded” VP44 Bosch/zexel IP ($2800) this was due to crank and no start, which eventually I found was due to the NATS type A key reader in the battery malfunctioning in which f’s the whole fuel delivery system via ECU.

I fixed all that and got a new pump, timing chain and new glow plugs (g-plugs died after a month of trying to crank and not starting)

Have had an issue with no fuel pressure at the hand primer after running.
Won’t start without manually priming it. Ran completely fine for a a month or so (fifo so haven’t had much time to drive it plus belt tensioner was replaced causing more downtime)

Here’s my conundrum. Today, after normal driving around locally to grab bits and pieces, was accelerating to 100km, let off the throttle but the engine was still revving its a** out. Looked behind me and a massive cloud of white smoke. Instant thought was fuel leaking into the oil. Luckily the engine shut off when I turned the key off and was able to pull to the side of the road and get a tow back home.

There is an oil/fuel leak above one of the top facing injector line on the rocker cover (haven’t cracked the cover yet) which I’ve been told could be due to the over revving not necessarily a leaky seal.

Couple things I think it could be… the valve/seal from the IP was faulty after refurbishment. Or it is a seal from the injector lines somewhere pushing out diesel into my oil.

I don’t have an inline pump, and the only places I’ve recently done work on is the rocker cover area/timing so by chance could be those lines.

Just wondering if anyone has had an issue with their injector seals, leak off valve, fuel pump outlet seal or anything causing diesel into the oil causing self combusting oil in engine.

Could have been a slow leak in which finally created the perfect mixture or could have been a line or seal that finally let go when accelerating and causing pressure in the injector feed. I’m not sure.

I’m hoping that I can diagnose it, hoping the fuel pump people can fix under a warranty if it’s the fuel pump seal. Or if it’s the injectors…

Anyone have any input???
