Hi all, I have been a Land Rover driver for over 25 years and joined this forum as I'm looking to step over on a Patrol.
The vehicle I'm looking at is a 1996 Patrol 2.8 turbo diesel. It seems to be a nice car , some blemishes but that's OK for a 4wd. It drives great , just needs new Tie-rods front and some minor things. What sort of 'worries' me a little is that the mileage is low 230000 AND it has a new head..... Even for a Land Rover that would be a bit early ;-) So I wonder 'why ?'.
Was it overheated due to negligence? If so what else can be wrong not noticeable now. With my Rover aluminium block I would be very worried even after a head replacement. Should I have the same worries with a Nissan engine like this 2.8 ?
Does the 2.8 really run cheaper as a bigger Nissan engine, or are there 'second thoughts' base on experience.
Has anyone Land Rover AND Patrol experience and is willing to share thoughts on difference :-)
THANKS: Jacob
