I just had a better look at my rear tires and they have been damaged on the outside of the tread (the outside of the flat that contacts the ground) and looked at the inside of the 1/4 pannel and noticed a small section of plastic (maybe 10cm long has been ripped of and there is definitely paint scrubbed of from directly above the outer edge of the guard. Is this what you were talking about MudRunnerTD? Is this the section you recommend i bend up? If so how do i go about it, just bash away or is there softly softly approach required, my GU is pretty much undamaged so i don't want to f@*k up my panels. This has taken chunks out of both rear treads so i really want it sorted. Thanks heaps as usual. (not by hand anyway?) There is no evidence of any scrubbing up front only in the rear.
    Ben

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

All sorted with my rear inner guards, actually it was the inside of the 1/4 panel, with the help of a mate i took the plastic guards of and just folded the sharp edge up out of the way, a small amount of paint chipped of so we hit it with underbody tar, let it set and replaced the plastic trim. Thanks for the advice i hadnt noticed this was what was damaging my tires until you mentioned possible damage to tires. That should sort it out under flex and when i get the lift she will be right for sure.

I gave the GU a really good clean today and found a heap of rubbing top of rear guards, inside. I have no lift now with 33's and its rubbed back to shinny bare metal both sides rear, so if im doing same tracks with 2" lift i recon 35's will be too much, in my head it doesn't add up that they wouldn't scrub. I think i will stick to 33's and lift.
I agree with this i have a gu with a 4" lift and 33"s and they scrub in the upper inner corner of the guards slight change in offset will see them just clear i dont see how you could get 35" with a 2" lift to clear and keep good flex.

Just read rest of thread, don't worry I do not want more than 2" lift, so it is 33s max.
    Cheers
