Trans temp gauge on 2010 CRD auto
I've just got a oil temp gauge so I can keep an eye on the trans temp - any ideas on the best spot to put the sender?

OK, This might help. Pages from the manual. You could tap into the sensor circuit and should be able to display temps with a gauge. I have tried thin on a scan gauge without any luck but I'm pretty dumb when it comes to programming TXD/RXF/MTH...bla,bla, bla...LOLOL

You should be able to get a trans temp reading from a good OBD reader. I get it from Nissan Scantech on my car pc, but I have a non OBD Di Patrol.
That way you'll be reading what the TCU sees.
