Ratchet Lockers (auto diff lockers) YAY OR NAY ????

got a gu, came with a ratchet locker in the front. i never drove the car before the locker so i cant realy tell if its helping at all?
I could hear it clicking when turning and thort it was my cv's. But its just the locker ratching.

can anyone tell me whether there good or not so good? any experiences
