    faulty pyro reading ?

Finally got my self a patrol 2001 gu st 3 litre had new motor 80000 km ago had nads since then,
runs very well but pyro readings seem to high to me about 500c at 100km/h
i took a reading on the dump pipe next to the thermocouple for the pyro meter with an infrared thermometer it was 100c lower than the meter does that sound right?

Don't know much, but I know 500 is bloody hot and probably inclined to do damage. I'd be getting it double checked as even (I thought) 400 was getting up there if you're just cruising at 100klm.

No doubt others will weigh in here also mate.

    Hey bud.
I have the same engine and year gu as you.
When cruising down the highway at 100km/h my pyro only reads about 300-350 MAX.
mine was reading alot higher before i got the needle valve and overide the ECU.

Do you have the EGR blocked? if not, pm The Ferret for a blocking plate.

What NADS do you have fitted?

It has the dawes valve, catch can, and the egr is supposed to be blocked but i can't really tell, boost and pyro gage and its running a 3 inch dump pipe and exhaust.
the motor runs very well no smoke and never over heats, drove her today it was about 35c and it made no difference to the egt,
i have spoken to a few dyno tune places the keep telling me they cant do anything about it unless i buy an intercooler or chip from them.
