    Hi Andy,

I will be going down that path when i suss it all out. My dad also owns a GQ patrol and he has just purchased something called "OBD2 All-In-One Scan Tool w/ USB"
    http://www.obd2allinone.com/sc/details.asp?item=obd2usb

Not sure if i will purchase the same as him, but considering he is more mechanically minded than me i prolly will.

    Cheers

    Todd

Thanx Paul, no rush. I'm pretty sure it was the factory Nissan GQ/y60 service manual that i download, which looks very scanned 2 me, I find it hard 2 read anyway, it has 1038 pages.

Might be the 14 pin RHS tucked in above the fuse box (Diagnostic connector). you can read the ECU 2-Digit fault codes by putting ECU into diagnostic mode. Think this must be in nissan manual.
Procedure: Turn key to ignition position and engine not running. Bridge for at least 3 seconds the 2 wires adjacent to each other, placed in there own group, at one side of the 14 pin connector. On mine, this is the white/red and yellow/black . The" check engine" lamp will pulse out the 2 DIGIT fault codes. 1st Digit-slow flashes, 2nd Digit-fast flashes.
The code(s) are repeated until you exit diagnostic mode by bridging the 2wires again for 3 seconds, when finished reading codes.
Codes: a) 11- crank angle sensor, b) 12- air flow meter, c) 13 - temperature sensor, d) 21 - ignition , d) 43 - throttle position sensor, e) 55 - NO FAULT DETECTED. Note. Any reported fault can occur due to faulty wiring in particular high resistance in the connectors. This has been the main problem with my GQ. Suggest all connectors are cleaned with "contact cleaner" before investing in sensor replacement.
