it seems to be down to the experience of the person over the phone, would be nice if the extra cover would go higher seeing as $5/$6k is not lot of extras but better than nothing.
Seemed like a good idea at the time

I had very little joy with DGA myself , if your car has lots of mods, but is still legal, i suggest you talk to these guys......

I got a much better deal than offered by DGA and AAMI, my previous insurer.

They would not touch me because the mods are worth more than the car.

Got a quote from these guys - about $400 more than DGA, but better on agreed value and the additioanl extra coverage was good to.

    G'day Stropp,

I sent in an e-mail quote yesterday, i am looking at insuring my 2002 GU 4.2TD ST Patrol wagon for around $35,000, even though i do have over $18,000 worth of accessories and mods done to the Patrol. For the year with only 230,000ks on the clock i think is an reasonable amount to insure my vehicle for.

DGA have not got back to me at present and i sent a quote in 4 days ago!

PS, Coles supermarket insurance have quoted us $985.00 for $35,000 with all mods and accessories listed.

    Regards

    Paul

hi Paul, yes thats very reasonable, mine is with 2k of camping gear and all the accessories on the vehicle although when i added the rooftop tent they said its noted but would not increase the value as mine is a dx not st. Im happy with 47.5 as rac would only go to 34k with everything, this deal with affinty was by far the best.
