Hi, so its about time i started a thread here.
As some of you might know, i have had a really bad run with the old girl chasing an auto fault.
Bought the GQ last july it had high k's but came with heaps of receipts for:
Fully rebuilt carby.
Rebuilt transmission.
Overhauled LPG system (all new apart from the tank)
New Radiator and hoses.
Brake lines.
New battery leads, connections, earth etc.
It also had:
2inch lift (been in a while, no brand names, looks heavy duty)
A custom snorkel including a t-t-t-t toyo cylinder type pre filter and some "real fancy" flex hose
2x Narva spotties.
CD player.
Some "unique" speakers.
Very neat interior.
then added:
33 inch cooper stt's on new 15x8 black steelies.
A Uniden UH7700NB UHF with 3Db aerial.
Then i had the problem with the auto box, the lockout torque converter keeped locking and unlocking on the highway.
So...... Took it to an auto specialist.
Fitted a rebuilt torque converter, still no go.
Found out there was no TPS (throttle position Switch),
there was no TPS because the carby was off a manual, therefore nowhere to put a tps!
Got a bottom plate off an auto carby, bought a brand new TPS, Fitted it all up.
still no go.
Specialist pulled the gearbox apart and searched every little nook: Verdict: the box is in perfect condition, "looks like its done less than 5000ks".
Traced it to be one of the Temp senders!
Anyway i bit the bullet and thought id throw a Nomad extreme aftermarket valve body while it was all apart.
Got the guys at Wholesale Automatics to build one up and fit another temp sender to it.
My mechanic fitted it up last friday and took it for a test run......
Still No Good!!!!
He racked his brain all weekend and come monday started double checking everything/anything!
Finally found that the temp sender was second hand and faulty!!!
Luckily he had one there, fitted it up and PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!
Yep, this whole process kept my trol off the road for the last FIVE MONTHS!!!!
and tonight: I DROVE IT HOME WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so as i said above, The trol has a funky snorkel setup....
Apart from the fact that the prefilter is from a "certain other brand", i think its actually a fairly good setup.
The only bad bit is the flexy pipe snorkel.....
Im going to replace it with one similar to ABs. The question is: Does anyone know a good way to attach a 2inch (or thereabouts) flexy pipe to a 3inch rubber elbow?
