    4.5 petrol y61, hard to start

    I got a 98 4.5 petrol wagon. Just got it converted from gas back to fuel. Having problems with it starting. it winds over but dosnt fire up. whet it dose fire up it coughs and carrys on then pics up to full revs

    any idears

    Welcome to the forum, it's always nice to post an introduction before asking questions - no harm done.

    First thing to do is get the fuel pressure checked, if that is OK I would suspect injectors have gummed up from not being used. Also check for air leaks between the airflow meter and the engine, gas engines have a habit of backfiring through the inlet which can damage this ducting.

    i agree whit tony here but dont forget your fuel filter it may have picked up some gunk as well

    When i converted it from gas to petrol i had a new long range tank put in and 3 weeks after that i had it serviced , they said to do it that way to allow time to pick up all the gunk out the new tank.
