Not a fan of where you have your hook hanging @MB when your winching in the final amount you will put load on that. Chances are that shackle will break and or the chain will stretch. If you end up going 24v then it won't stand a chance.

The Run On on a Himount is pretty full on mate, nothing like a low mount. In 24v it's full on. You might have seen the comp truck mount a "winch dildo" to their car hi up in PU flex to take up the load.

I would pull it up around your bar. If your worried about your paint them wrap it in some tape. It will pull hard mate.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Cheers Daz, appreciated mate. Don't believe it would have been an issue with its old 2.5hp but now the 6hp Iskra/Mahle your advice makes great sense :-)

I used to use a 10mm thick rubber O ring out of a 300d storm water pipe which wrapped around the top bar and it worked great for a couple of years.

I have a winch dildo going on the GQ now
