The fan was making a weird noise when switched on high. Stripped the fan motor and cleaned it out. I found it is due for new brushes soon. While I had the fan out I also took the housing out and found that the screen I fitted was fairly dusty and had some leaves and rat droppings on it. I fitted a dust filter between the fan and air conditioner so being in a dusty convoy will be an even more pleasant experience.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

I have had a slipping fan belt on the GuIv for the last couple of weeks so thought I better sort that today. I had a full set of spare belts that I have for touring and thought bugger it, time for a change so stripped out all 3 belts and replaced with new ones. The belts are probably the originals and 235,000 kms old, they were certainly in need of a change.
Good result.
Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!!
....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Not alot of meat, there isnt alot to take, just a polish to 320 grit really. I wont be doing the exhaust because there isnt much meat there and it takes so long to do
Might get 10-15 hp maybe. The heads are pretty good out of the box
