There would have been about 50 cars in that car park that day.

I was with a seventeen year old girl learner driving. I don't think her parents would have appreciated me taking her onto the beach.

You may find when towing if you flick on the hazard lights you'll blow a fuse, if it was 10amp up it to 15amp and problem solved, just a GU thing

Yep, this is an issue particularly if you have a trailer attached, the extra lights on the trailer seem to add just enough to exceed the 10 amp fuse capacity. Replacing fuse with a 15 amp fuse will solve the problem. I have done this after discussing with two separate auto lecs who are both of the opinion that the existing wiring is more than capable of taking the 15 amp fused load.
