Mate, you were on the money and I wish I saw this! I'd say this is what sandblasting looks like after around 500ks of sand driving. Gave it a good squirt underneath tonight and then I be resealing and oiling before the weekend. I'd be interested to know how the y62, ranger and others fared that did the mouth.

It won’t stop the sandblasting but it great for corrosion resistance like inside the chassis rails etc. The underside of my Patrol is sandblasted pretty bad. It’s gonna get a good pressure pack respray I think.

Took me hours cleaning the Gq yesterday and the amount of sand that comes out is scary.

After flushing all the chassis I left those fountain sprinklers on underneath for about an hour too.

Greased U-joints and driveshaft sleeve on both driveshafts of the GU. Man, what a difference it makes! The sleeves were literally dry. It reduced the driving noise so much that it's hard to believe nothing else was done to the car.

    Yesterday and today:

Changed Oil and Filters, easy bit.
Also replaced the Serpentine Belt, Radiator Hoses and Coolant, bit more involved. All done with minimal cursing.
Thought it was about time as I've had the belt and hoses since the Cape Trip nearly 10 years ago. All still in good nick so go into the spares box.

Tomorrow a good wash top and bottom, including the chassis and hard to get to bits. Leave it outside and once completly dry I'll give it a good dose of fish oil.
Realised I have 50 litres of used oil in containers so a trip to the transfer station as well, need the containres to fill with the old coolant and flushing water.
    Cheers

Finally commenced the Tesla/Lithium-Cobalt 2 year old (second hand) Battery conversion on a GU Wagoon today…….front drivetrain fully removed and it’s forward rocket tubes appear to be working well

Scored a solid 18” front levitation/lift once the batteries ignited

Can’t wait to upgrade the rear/arse end next……I’m going back to the Future
