Club rego is Victoria at least is a significantly cheaper form of registration. It comes with limitations to what or when it can be used for and you need to have a membership of some.sort of car club however it is almost 20%(I think) of the cost of our annual rego premium.

I'm recreational registering a motorbike this week which costs about $60-$80 per year as opposed to about $600. Just means I can't ride it wherever I please.a win in my opinion to keep something useful that I won't use very often.

Interesting. What would be the limitations in travel? State borders?

You get a certain amount of kilometers allocated to you per month you are allowed to travel. So you must carry and filled in a log book each and every time you use the Patrol. I think, there is different fees for different amount of kilometers allocated too. So if you were to do a big trip you simply pay more to get more k's allocated. Still way cheaper than standard reg. Also to get club reg you must be a member of a registered club to be eligible to club reg and the vehicle must be 25years or older.

Pay-as-you-go... interesting! One smart way for one to have, lets say, a collection of antique cars. Only pay for what one can actually drive them instead of paying for them to stay parked. Cool!

Well its one fee for the year, at a much discounted rate, you get x amount of hours allocated with this. If you need more you pay more. I think this is how it works...

You are only allowed to drive the car 45 days in the year, you must keep a log book of when the car is driven, where to and how many kms travelled. If you are caught without having filled the log book you are penalised as driving an unregistered vehicle and also not covered by insurance.
You can pay double the fee and get 90 days.
