If it was reassembled 6 weeks ago I'm pretty certain that who ever did the work even tho its your trusted mechanic, they do have apprentices and has not assembled things correctly. In saying that I mean maybe the locking shims between the hub nuts has not been tabbed over, allowing the full hub assembly to come apart. Nissan front assemblies go for hundred of thousands k's before needing a rebuild only because the axle oil seal has failed. Hence why you get a leaking hub. Mate if you lived within a couple hours drive from me I would load my tools and come to you get this sorted out.
Well thTs a great offer thanks mate, I've asked for photos as he pulls it apart. I'll put them here but another post.

As soon as I find out what's wrong I'll let you know.

Last night I fitted the LSD/Disc brake rear end.

This morning the truck started like a sick dog with a big puff of white smoke which kicked off a Post Trip assessment and maintenance day and unfortunately I found a few things.... Firstly, some water in the in-line fuel filter (sorry, no pic) but as I had only filled up in Cairns I was a bit doubtful that I had gotten a bad dose of fuel. Decided to check out the fuel system in a bit more detail and found the main fuel/water separating filter also had a bit of water in it. Drained that too. Then found this:

A bit hard to see, but there is a crack in the breather tube fitting on the main tank which by the looks of it has been leaking fuel and will need some work. I suspect that condensation has been forming in the tank but could be wrong. Currently looking to drop the tank, cut out the fitting and silver solder in a new one at a better angle. Might try a 90 degree bend so the hose doesn't rub on the underside of the vehicle floor which had previously been a problem. I suspect that I have actually caused the crack myself when trying to gently lever the fitting down so the breather tube didn't rub.

Further to this little headache, I noticed that several of the manual hub main bolts were loose. Pulled the manual hubs off to tighten the bolts and check if any water might have gotten in. Found that all was good on the drivers side.

But that there was no retaining clip on the passengers side!!! WTF!! Glad I pulled the hub off and had a look.

Anyway, at least the bearing grease all seemed to be fine, so I'll source a retaining clip, add a bit more grease and make things right tomorrow.

Marty I have seen this before. It looks to be a kingpin bearing failure hence the angle. If wheel bearing were checked and greased and that's as far as they went then the bearings probably weren't even checked.

Thanks. The front wheel bearings were replaced about 6000 km ago. I saw the grease go in. And the bearings were still on the shaft. Although fused by heat. Mechanic thinks seal on diff side failed

Got the fuel manager filter fitted, got the exhaust rattle fixed, diffs and locker services, tyres rotated balanced, and alignment done. Also the roof rack was replaced under warranty for small rust marks.

Not as much as it sounds, majority of it was warranty covered.
