Insurance claim after hitting a roo one morning on my way to work, he was a big boy. Did most of the damage along the side.

While its apart have a look at the radiator support panel for rust. Just behind where the winch hook is sitting. Your Patrol is the same age as mine so surely theres rust there.

Unfortunate I agree Mate, but with such a cool moist summer down here they are as thick as wabbits perpetually preggo’s certainly around our neck of the hills.
We all coped council potential fine notices to reduce green paddocks to sub 100mm prior to December 25th and one neighbour questioned this logic of their roadside 4’ grasses in contradiction. Handballed straight off to Vic Roadies territory to get informed that environmentally they leave “Kangaroo Grass” on our safe roadsides alone.....WTF

2001 mine is. Might be all nice and clean on the outside, but means nothing underneath...Yours will surely have some rust in it I think. I'd be checking this out mate while its half apart.

100% Agree with Mudski Mate too John Mate!
GU chassis’s are tough and fairly resistant but that dreaded radiator front thingy must’ve been made from some salty factory near the OEM coast

Managed to squeeze the second D31A Optima under the tray for the rear winch by slightly butchering an old GU ARB tray off my oldest DX ute wreck.

She’s certainly tight but not too stressed as only a hardwood tray above the terminals
