Took it out Toolangi way and got a load of firewood.
We came across this fallen tree.


Managed to get nearly all of it in the trailer.


Bloody decent tree it was. I’ll be going back this coming weekend to get another load before the season closes.

I need to make a cage for the trailer next.

Took the Patrol out again for another load. Just me and the missus this time. Went down a track, looked like it was steep on the Topo map, but it was short so we took it.
Yeah. With it near full trailer and descending a wet and greasy track, going straight wasn’t an option. The wife was hanging on pretty hard. It feels so unnatural to accelerate to try and straighten up
When your brain just says hit the brakes.
Pics never do it justice. But I’m going back there this weekend as their was some cracker fallen trees there. We stopped to collect a bit more firewood and thankfully it was in a sunny spot so the ground wasn’t too slippery.

Early start stripping down my entire brake system on the GQ ute:



PeeBee-Philstar kindly gifted me some twin pot front calipers a week or so ago and after fitting I have uncovered last night why they only ran great for about 100km.

Checked my fluids shelf in the shed and turns out I must’ve accidentally grabbed the power steering fluid (yellow bottle also) to bleed the front new brakes……IDIOT

Proportional valve rubbers have since swollen and jammed, brand new master cylinder rooted and jamming too and guaranteed all 4 calipers seals will be buggered also…….very expensive FARK UP…….

Thankfully Philstar is kindly gifting me again his old rear calipers and near new master cylinder

Supposed to be departing early tomorrow for a school holidays adventure with our youngest but looks like a Patrolapart visit is required first to grab a new proportional valve and changeover front calipers.

Slow down, don’t rush, is my only advice here learnt the hard way, internal brake rubber components must hate petroleum based accidents

Compressed air blasted out and deliberately wasted 4L of Dot3, hoping that’ll be enough for cleaning out the hardlines









Certainly starting to look better than the burnt and oily milky power steering fluid debacle found within the system yesterday

Yep. Happens to me alot. Wanna hurry up and get the job done and it ends up being double the cost and twice as long.

I now say to myself slow down and don't f@#k up before I start anything..

Watched some Youtubey videos today as I’ve never personally reconditioned calipers before, sexy time gloves are ready to hopefully keep grubby contaminated fingers off the seals going in deep

Widened my GQ front hole to fit the old Family GU Tourer pole



Has been quite a few years since near salty dunes, worth corrosion squirting them down folks prior to storage issue just found



Here’s hoping a 55rwkw brake less tired mountain twuck can even get close to the top of a measly dune to warrant a flag
