Something you should look into for sure mate. Glad to hear the RAC came to the party for you, that would have taken away some pain.

    Hi Rafa,

I'm just in the process of changing my insurance and asked that specific question. I'm now with RACV and they said that my comprehensive insurance will cover me for towing Australia wide to the chosen repairer, no limit on distance if this is the result of an accident. They will also cover the towing from a holding yard to repairer.
For breakdown I have 'RACV Total Care', they will cover me for recovery and towing from any location regardless of distance to the nearest service centre. This covers any car I am driving, not car specific. Not sure if you have an equivalent cover up there but for about $200 it's money well spent.

    Good luck with the repairs.
    Cheers

Took blue steel out for its first adventure, after all the repairs and work ive done I figured it would be pointless without a little fun. I spent the morning making sure everything was fastened and right to go.. Found a rather easy track starting at sofala and ending round capertee and I was really impressed with how she handled, I even ventured off the track and found my way up a river washout till I couldnt go futher. Had no maps, phone or jack (oops) but it was definitely exciting. The l28 was no slouch and managed up everything with ease, that being said on very steep decents she stalled on me which was a bit unnerving. I assume that is a common drawback with carbs, but id like to hear others experiences. I managed to shear off a few bolts that held on the passenger side step too, I thought that was funny.

Your right about not hearing anything. I hit a wash out (wet season creek) not too fast I think. Then it lunged to the side and I stopped.

Interesting point came out it to do with remote travel and communications though. I got on my sat phone and tried to make a call to the next town along the track and couldn't hear a thing. So I used my HF radio to make a radio call. It worked fine.
Mate lets get to the bottom of this, sounds you've done everything possible on your behalf. I would love to see some pictures of the hub as it sits. If it was reassembled 6 weeks ago I'm pretty certain that who ever did the work even tho its your trusted mechanic, they do have apprentices and has not assembled things correctly. In saying that I mean maybe the locking shims between the hub nuts has not been tabbed over, allowing the full hub assembly to come apart. Nissan front assemblies go for hundred of thousands k's before needing a rebuild only because the axle oil seal has failed. Hence why you get a leaking hub. Mate if you lived within a couple hours drive from me I would load my tools and come to you get this sorted out.
