Gawd! So whats after this? Actually, is there actually anything else left to do?
Removed the roof rack and cut and polished the entire roof. Then pulled the light bar apart and got rid of the condensation build up in it and gave it a lick of noo paint.
Went for a cruise out to Mt Richmond, across to Cape Bridgewater, then around to Cape Nelson. I did this to deliberately run it out of fuel, to see how far a tank would get me. 505 km. I had 10 liters of fuel in a can and it was only 2.9 kms to the servo. All up, the tank took only 91 litres to fill. On one trip to Bendigo, we got to 492 km before we found a servo that was open. That was cutting it close.
I have finally installed the spare engine into the GQ. Woo Hoo!!!
The reason I couldnt get it to fit............. the spare engine has an aftermarket HD ribbed flywheel and clutch it installed. It has barley seen any use at all...(score!) however, the clutch plate would not fit over the drive shaft on the gearbox (This spare motor came out of another 1997 GQ RD28T) SO I replaced it with my original clutch plate from the dud engine which is worn but will do the job for now until I can get another clutch plate.
Now to button it up this week and get it running this weekend.
Just about to jump into my next Patrol. A 2001 GU II TB45E .
WARNING!: Do not ever use a towball as a recovery point. They are not rated and can become a deadly projectile during a recovery if they snap off, and they have done so with tragic results in the past.
Had some laser cut parts laying around as you do, so decided to fit a shovel holder to my roof rack.
I forgot to weld them on when making the rack doh. not concerned about a hi-lift at this stage.
Heaps of room out the back if I need to fabricate something for it.
All part of travelling light
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
