Replaced front brake pads this morning. Had a new set that i had bought a couple of years ago when the rears needed doing, got the fronts at the same time, just never got around to changing them until today. Old ones still had a bit of meat on them, but not much. I think they were the originals, If so they have lasted 258 000 km`s, never been changed since I`ve had the vehicle & I`ve done the last 158 thou.

Rotors are still in good nick, minimal wear ( unlike mates 2010 Navara with 78 000 kms on it that wore out the rotors before the pads! ). Checked front wheel bearings for movement while i was at it, all good.

One less worry for the trip this weekend.

I'm still chasing an oil leak from that area though Mudski.

It looks look the EGR valve or something in that vicinity. It only does it under load and is only a fine spray. I'm not losing any oil at all so its coming from the vacuum EGR system somewhere.

I will have another look on the weekend.

I also have to fix the fuel pump as it is leaking fuel (and getting worse) so I have to play mechanic again this weekend before we take the Patrol away for two weeks in April.

But you are right, It is good to get things fixed and working properly.

Just about to jump into my next Patrol. A 2001 GU II TB45E .

WARNING!: Do not ever use a towball as a recovery point. They are not rated and can become a deadly projectile during a recovery if they snap off, and they have done so with tragic results in the past.

Mounted an Anderson plug to the bullbar from the auxiliary batteries to plug in solar panels, use 240v charger, or 12v supply for portable air compressor or the like.

Cleaned MAF sensor, wow what a different it made.

Didn't remove the sensor, rather removed the circular clip and pull out the air cleaner cover, removed four bolts to seperate the MAF sensor housing and gave it a good clean, didn't remove the wire either.

Drives smooth now, where it was hesitating when take off and make turns in third gear.

    Cheers,

A pain as its a made a big gap between window and fridge..
    Exactly what I didn't really want. ..

We must think alike. I brought the same one for when I use my camper. Good value I thought. Wiring it in is my job for tomorrow.
