    TD42 GQ Turbo oil drain

    Hi Guys,
I'm fitting a top mount turbo, external waste gate, etc. My trol is a 1996 TD42 black top with the vac pump on the injector pump not the alternator. I have the oil feeder on the front left side in front of the engine mount for the supply line but think I will still go with the after market oil filter extender that I have already fitting for the oil pressure gauge as I wanted to keep the factory oil pressure and oil light.

I have read and investigated the treads.

My Question is: I have a block that has the factory casing for the oil return but it is not taped out. Right next to that there is another port that has an ali adaptor fitting on it. I haven't had this off yet to see what it does. It's very hard to see with the exhaust still fitted to the block. Any ideas what it's for?
Also have read your better off to take the return into the sump BELOW the oil line so the hot oil does not get solidified before cooling back down by the sump oil. Any comments Please.

    Thanks

    Regards

    Kel

    Hi Kel,

I ran mine into the sump as I didn't have the plug in the block either.

I was told you can return it via the alternator return with a T but I was reluctant to do this I reckon the oil will build up, not drain quickly and blow your turbo.

Tap a hole in the sump mate.

As far as the ali adaptor comment...Do you have a photo to show me?

It could be a plug for the water, not your oil....Show us a photo of the spot and I'll let you know.

    Hi AB,

Thanks for that I noticed thats what Tony recommends to. I will get some photos going when I get back home and continue the fitment. I think the oil return for the vac pump is also way to small.

    Regards

    Kel

    No worries.

I think It's ok to run into the block directly if you have the plug but running it into the alternator with a T means your trying to use one plug for two items to be drained out which would cause back pressure, etc...

Take some snaps anyway and we'll suss it out mate.

    Pic's of ali oil fitting

    Hi Guys,

    Attached is some pic's

This is the adaptor . It sits under number five cylinder and there is two of them. Its oil as I've now had it off. It has a spring inside and would like an oil pressure reducing valve. My engine has an oil pressure reducing valve just below the oil filters. Any ideas of what its for. the second one under number 6 cylinder is capped off.

    Regards

    Kel
