    manual transmission

    hi guys , anyone out there had trouble with first gear not wanting to be select , basicall.y have to stop to engage 1st. could incorrect oil cause this or is it as I suspect the syncro ring and a gearbox rebiuld

    Could be the syncros mate but when was the last oil change.

    I would be doing the oil change first with good quality and see if that helps first.

    Whats the clutch peddle feel like? Its also a symptom of a failing clutch master or slave.

    Mine has always done this. - 02 Series 3 ZD. Never worried about it. Never need to use 1st gear until you come to a complete stop anyway....

    Yep, I would go with the oil change first. Make sure you use a GL4 oil not a GL5. A GL 5 will completely stuff your syncros, and it will do it quite quickly. Go here for a read: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...oil-GL4-vs-GL5
