    Tacho and Speedo signal format

    Hi All,

Just trying to get started on my research for possible fitment of a replacement engine for my '97 GQ ute. The engine I am considering has an ECU, and it puts out a 12V square wave signal to drive the original vehicle's tacho. Will this be compatible with the Nissan tacho? Where would I find that information? In addition, the ECU also has a speedo input, which apparently isn't mandatory to connect, but I like to dot all the i's (so to speak). Again, what is the signal that the dash speedo works on? If it is the same as the donor vehicle, then I should just be able to wire it directly from the dash speedo input.

I'm after some more info on the other guages as well, but this will do for now. Any help would be appreciated.

    Ed
