    Angry Stubbin old men!!!

    Alright you stubbin bas*tards!!!

Yeah It's a 4x4 site yeah this has nothing to do with patrols but hopefully this may make some of you stubbin old buggers think twice.

My old man has had prostrate cancer for 18 months now.

Didnt tell anyone, not even his wife, I only just found out today when he turned up at my work and told me.

Now the cancer has started to grow further and is going for surgery this Thursday and It's been so long I am worried that It may be too late.

STOP BEING STUBBIN OLD BAS*TARDS AND GO GET CHECKED OUT!!!!

Now my dad may not see his grandchildren grow up or see me get married or see some great milestones in his son's/grandaughters life.

Pull your heads in and go see someone now!!!

I'll be a lot happier if I have somehow gotten through to atleast one person here.

AB I promise no smart joke from me. I too hope your message gets through to those who should be getting checked. On the bright side of your Dad , today there is still a good chance they can catch it all mate. Let's keep our fingers crossed and for those who believe in God, please say a prayer for Andys' Dad.

Now I know that the thought of the check up is embarrassing, but admitting that you didn't get checked in fear of a simple professional check, is even more embarassing. Our wives have their boobs squeezed between a camera (which I'm told is bloody hurts) for a check on unusual lumps.

Both sexes need these things done reguarly as middle age sets upon us. So man up and stop this unneccessary dispair in families.

I had a check up last year, these days it is as simple as a blood test to check for prostrate cancer, so there is nothing to fear.............................like Andy said DO IT NOW.
Andy, my best wishes are with your father and you mate.

I've been getting checked from the age of 30 (I have a full blood work up every year) & get a free prostrate check up every 2 years.

Thay told me when I first asked about it that I didn't need it done until I turned 50 but I told them I could be dead by then so best thay start checking me now.

Thay are taking the blood anyway so its no biggy.

Well incase anyone was wondering the operation went well.

To remove cancer from your prostrate you can either go 2 ways...Cheap or expensive.
Cheap = cutting your stomach open and tearing out a lot of muscle to get access which leaves you messed up for approx 3 months.

Expensive = 6 camera rods get inserted on the side of your body and one in the middle and the whole operation is done using remote control....A lot less invasive.

The operation costs $10,000 and private health does not cover it as its a "specialised operation"....Absolute joke, thats why we get private health cover for these types of things...lol

Well, we soaked up a lot of our funds but went the expensive way....3 months not at work is a long time.

Anyways, all went well, removed a gigantic lump of cancer and he is now recovering.

But as mentioned above, just go get checked out every couple of years as it was a huge scare for our family and I for one will now start getting checked when they open a new doctors surgery in my local town soon.

Thanks for the comments and PM's everyone and I hope some people here are now thinking about this.

    Great news AB.

My dad and his 2 brothers died of cancer within a 12 month time frame. I've just had my 3rd colonoscopy. Didn't hurt coz they filled me with hospital drugs.

All us blokes need regular check ups. Cholesterol, Blood Pressure. I call it my yearly service and tune up.

    Take care out there.

Great news there AB, I really don't know how they can justify charging anything for a life saving operation.
I will stop there as the subject of cancer is very close to my heart and I tend to get very vocal about it.

Andy, Glad to hear op went wel and Dad should be around for a couple more decades. What a rort the system is for medical procedures though.

Ross goes in and says: Give some lube, check the pressures; and clean the plugs thanks Doc!
