yeah there is also pink stuff down here. The pink colour comes from the local quartz they use and is just a coincidence. The white is on purpose i think

Yeah your probably right but i didnt think they would set up a processing plant to process local rock. But then again theres a whole new section near Zeehan that is really pink and that must be from local rock. Interesting though. Maybe the rock is just a by-product from one of the mines. But why were the roads traditionally black until fairly recently when the local rock would have been the same colour for ever.

If they used to be hotmix then little rock in that. Many of those west coast roads have had local rock roads for ages. They are very very grippy due to the sharp facets on the rock.

Yeah makes sense but the white and pink colours have only appeared in the last ten years or so.
