I still work as a mechanic but now doing mobile servicing of industrial floor sweepers and scrubbers. Much better money and I spend more than half my time driving.

Im hearing ya with the pay, however I have found it a lot easyer to negotiate a decent wage now a lot of tradies have gone out to the mines.

It's an all to common story these days with guys leaving the trade because after 10 years+ experience they still get offered $24/hr to work on cars, I know of one fella who is head tech at a Toyota dealership, 15 years exp and $26/hr with no overtime and a very unrealistic bonus system, what a joke..........

Electrician, maintenance at government facility. pays ordinary but plenty of callout work to boost it up.
After 10 years including apprenticeship I tried computer programming. Lasted 5 years and discovered I really hate offices, love seeing trees and sky.

Currently working as a Graphic Designer/3D artist for a Playground company.

Before this, I've worked in the sign industry.. started off as designer but quickly realised the job wasn't what was promised.. so I became a spray painter for them for 2 years. Really enjoyed paining, had a lot of fun... until they started getting rid of everyone and employing cheap labour workers...

Also did a stint in CNC routing which was routing bench tops for shop fitters. Shit job and they were all Christians... and not the cool, hip Christians.. but the real stuck up strict ones.

Did my apprenticeship as a "Photographic Engraver" which doesn't exist anymore. It got shoe horned into "Graphic Pre-Press & Design" which really had nothing to do with it. So I did my apprenticeship going to school learning about stuff that I wasn't doing at work. Was a pain! Luckily, I already had the skills to pass the course since I used to dabble in Photoshop and Illustrator at home.

Also done general labouring which includes Roof tiling, Furniture Removalist, Play event operator (jumping castle, mechanical bulls, sumo suits! etc) and other odd jobs.
